Stanton-Masten said long-time programs such as the group’s networking breakfast continue to be successful, but she’s looking for what else needs to be done. To that end, the chamber developed a five-member team to go out to larger businesses and determine ways it can improve its efforts. The chamber looked at its services and decided it was doing a pretty good job of advocating for business issues coming up in various governments, in its naval affairs committee and in a new group to encourage education and workforce training, Stanton-Masten said.īut it also decided it needed more focus on what it could do for both small and larger businesses. ![]() “We needed to have a North Star to help guide our long-range thinking,” he said. Acknowledging that organizations can develop mission and values statements that sit on the shelf, chamber president Louise Stanton- Masten said her group is hoping to take the new guidelines to heart.īusiness consultant Andrew Ballard, who helped the group develop its values, calls them the chamber’s “guidance system.” ![]()
